Farm Update for January 31
Well its not a slump exactly but for once we don’t have a million things going on! Work is still going well for me and Mike has been able to work with the neighbors again, this time he is working with cows. As far as I can tell he is doing something relating to ear tags and cow haircuts...i felt it was best not to ask too many questions.
After Christmas we finally had a few people over and got to chat with our neighbors who have the veggie co-op. It was a fun visit and now Mike has a new job helping at their farm this summer! It will be a good way for him to learn how to grow stuff on our land. Now we cant wait for spring to get here so we can start planting. Mike bought a neat little seed mix so we have some really cool things to try this year! Speaking of planting we also ordered all our seedlings for our shelter belt. I think we may have to put up a little wall of bales to protect them since they'll be so small, but in like 5 years they'll be pretty functional. Hopefully ha ha. February is supposed to be a windy month so we'll be able to see exactly where we should plant these suckers. We'll also have to find some water tanks and drip irrigation...its kind of fun buying “farm stuff”!
Hmm what else have we been up to? Oh, we did a “Locked Room” and I was awful at it. Plus it was horror themed so I was scared and awful at it. Ok, it wasn’t too bad and i'd actually do it again haha. We've attempted to get back into snowboarding and go to Powder Keg in Blairmore but it was closed when we tried and then we had a heat wave so hopefully we'll get another chance soon.
Work has been busy and I’m casually looking into doing a few extra courses since it turns out that I should probably have some education with the term “GIS” in it if I actually want a job doing that once my Airdrie term ends!
I finally got around to ordering a back splash for the kitchen. It comes as a roll so hopefully its not a giant pain to install but it will be nice to have the kitchen finally done.
Ok that's all I can say for now...told you it was a quiet month ha ha.
