Holy smokes, can you believe its only like a month and a week until Christmas? This fall has flown by!
Can't say its been terribly exciting project-wise at the farm, after Mike expanded the garden we really didn't have too many more outside projects aside from getting a new vent cover on the big camper. (Don't ask my why we didn't do that a year and a half ago as it has been broken literally since we got it.) We did get everything sort of tidied around the yard in preparation for snowfall (covering the mower, moving the wood pile out behind the dirt pile so we can actually use all of our driveway etc. We also just got 2 big loads of wood from our awesome neighbors to the north so I'm feeling much better about the snowy winter ahead! Mike also moved the old garden wind fence over around the chicken pen so they are much happier now and more protected. He did this on one of the windiest days here so far which I thought was pretty sweet of him! He also built an axe target after we went axe throwing a few months ago, he is getting pretty good at it too! (The throwing I mean.)
OH I almost forgot to mention our new chickens showed up a few weeks ago! Well, 3 of them anyhow. The other 3 got eaten by coyotes right before they were scheduled to come over so I think the remaining ones had a bit of PTSD when they showed up. After a few days of pecking they all got sorted out and are now happily eating their breakfast oatmeal (chicken food + water = chicken mush) together.
What else have we been up to...hmm, oh we went with mom to Jasper/Cadomin for a weekend. We were almost in a horror movie (that might still happen but our director had a baby), mom went to Amsterdam for 10 days, we had our 7th anniversary and of course Halloween which we did in style and I made some little kids cry with my costume. We also saw a pretty cool silent movie at a church downtown accompanied by free-form pipe organ music and it was crazy cool.
We got this year's beef delivery again, complete with dog bones which the critters have been leaving directly behind the car tires. Mike picked up some hours at the liquor store in town and is really liking it. He is hoping to get involved with a new climbing place opening in Okotoks in December as well. We did a bit of hiking while the weather was still nice and have a trip to Big White planned in December to get our snowboard on! Mom is coming down to pup/chicken/house set for that which is awesome.
Ok that might actually be it!
